Why Are Truck Accident Cases So Complex?

Transcript:

Insurance claims flowing from injuries resulting from trucking accidents can be more complicated than regular car accidents. There’s a few reasons for this. To determine liability in a trucking accident, oftentimes you have to establish what the standard of care is in the trucking industry, and that requires some in-depth knowledge of regulations, things like load capacities, resting requirements, and then an inquiry into whether those standards were met.

Trucking companies often carry out of jurisdiction insurance, and out of jurisdiction insurance policies will often have unique features specific to that jurisdiction. There’s often, unfortunately, multiple vehicles involved in trucking accidents given the size of the truck, and so determining fault amongst multiple vehicles can be complicated. And the fourth reason why trucking accident claims can be more complicated is simply because the nature of the injuries resulting from trucking accidents can be more significant.
